Border Road Organization is a modern construction organization dedicated to meeting the strategic needs of the armed forces. The Organisation's role is to develop and maintain the operational road infrastructure in the border areas and it also contributes to the socio-economic development of the border countries.

It was raised in 1960 to carve a path through the difficult Himalayas along the North-West and North-East border of the country. Although for the basic purpose it is the way of building civil engineering organizations - a function of intelligence-wise similar to central and or state PWDs - yet within the Indian Army Corps of Engineers.

Unit Setup
