Polishing is ideal for repairing old concrete floors or producing durable, low maintenance, high gloss mounting. This process provides a cost-effective floor option that can accommodate a tight budget and creative design.

So why is it so popular and how does it work?

The concrete machine runs behind it with a rotating diamond winding head that removes the concrete surface and achieves smooth polishing. A more aggressive rough diamond segment is used, starting with a very coarse grinder that removes the thickness quickly, and moves to the metal-bound diamond head. From there, resin-bonded diamonds reach various polishing levels until the glitter is very reflective. At one point in the grinding process, sodium silicate (or silicone-related) is used on the floor to solidify, or harden, concrete. The solution is absorbed into the concrete matrix, filling the pores. Chemically, silicate reacts with calcium hydroxide in concrete to produce calcium silicate hydrate. Potassium silicate, lithium silicate, and various silicates are also used in other proprietary formulations. After silicate is absorbed into the concrete, it becomes crystalline.
